Triplet Slide Decks
Ready made slide decks for daily RLA instruction
Triplet Slide Decks
Three coordinated tools. Five levels of thinking. A clear path from instruction to application.
Teach each standard with purpose, guide students toward deeper thinking, and know what to do next. Triplet Slide Decks from The Writing Academy®, LLC bring classroom instruction, teacher guidance, and student practice together in one thoughtfully coordinated set. With sets addressing every RLA TEKS standard and its individual breakouts, teachers have a ready resource for introducing a concept, reviewing prior learning, or providing the targeted support students need to take their next best step.
Each triplet includes three connected components that keep what teachers teach, what students see, and what students do working together.
1. Class Slide Decks: A Purposeful Progression Through Learning
Each five-day slide deck guides students through the five thinking levels: Foundational, Emergent, Visible, Independent, and Reflective. The TEKS, purpose statement, essential question, assignments, and teaching tools establish a clear instructional focus as students build understanding, make their thinking visible, and move toward independent application and reflection.
After students work through the five thinking levels, the answer keys for the week’s whole-group work are revealed, allowing students to check and reflect on the responses recorded on their tracking sheets. Students then complete an independent activity and an assessment-style multiple-choice question. The final slide provides the assessment answer key and explains why the correct answer is correct and why each distractor does not answer the question correctly, helping students examine the reasoning behind their choices.
2. Teacher Scripted Lesson Plans: Know What to Say, What to Do, and How to Respond
Every classroom slide has a corresponding teacher page. The top half displays the same slide students see on the board. The bottom half places the script and instructional guidance directly beneath it, so teachers can follow the lesson with the information they need in hand.
Bold, quoted sentences identify what to say, while italicized directions explain what to do. Supporting notes include possible student questions and suggested responses, common misconceptions, answers to essential questions, RPLD guidance, and next-best-step suggestions. This coordinated format supports confident delivery while helping teachers anticipate student needs and respond with clear, purposeful instruction.
3. Student Tracking Sheets: A Place to Practice, Apply, and Reflect
Each student uses a two-sided tracking sheet that follows the lesson sequence. The front captures whole-group learning as students work through the five thinking levels and the concept addressed in the deck. The back provides the independent activity and assessment-style question, including the correct answer choice and distractors.
Students have a consistent place to record their thinking, apply what they have learned, and review their responses. Teachers gain a useful record of student work to help identify understanding and determine where additional support may be needed.
From Whole-Group Instruction to the Next Best Step
Triplet Slide Decks support Tier 1 whole-group instruction, introduction, review, small groups, and tutorials. Their focus on individual standards makes them useful both for building initial understanding and for providing additional practice when a particular TEKS needs more attention.
They also connect assessment results to instructional action. Results from instantly graded TBASE essays and OnSTAGE reading, editing, and revising multiple-choice assessments guide placement into TEKS Teams and generate next-best-step recommendations. Those recommendations can include specific Triplet Slide Decks, giving teachers a coordinated resource for addressing the needs identified in students’ work.
With the slides, the script, and the student practice already connected, teachers can spend less time assembling lessons and more time helping students understand, apply, and explain what they learn.
One lesson, three parts
All three pages below come from the same lesson, Grade 4 Cumulative Editing Part One, subject-verb agreement, so the slide, the script, and the tracking sheet match.

Teach by TEKS
Included with The Vault. Teach by TEKS is only available with The Vault.
Choose your standards. Build your week. Teach with purpose.
Build your weekly slide deck around the TEKS you need to teach. Teach by TEKS gives you the flexibility to select individual standards from reading, revising, editing, and writing and combine the corresponding class slide decks into one customized, merged deck for the week ahead. Include standards from all four areas, or concentrate on the ones your students need most.
Created by The Writing Academy®, LLC, Teach by TEKS brings teacher choice and prepared instructional resources together. You determine the focus, and our TEKS-specific Triplet Slide Decks provide coordinated instruction, teacher guidance, and student practice to support your plan.
Supplemental Practice That Follows Your Core Curriculum
Whether your school uses Bluebonnet, HMH, Savvas, or another core RLA curriculum, Teach by TEKS helps you keep supplemental practice aligned with the standards you are already teaching.
Begin with the TEKS identified in your core curriculum’s lessons for the coming week. Select the matching standards and individual breakouts in Teach by TEKS, then merge the corresponding slide decks into a resource that supports those same instructional goals. Students receive additional opportunities to practice and apply the skills introduced in their core lessons, while you maintain a clear connection to your curriculum’s scope and sequence.
You might combine a reading comprehension standard, a revising skill, an editing concept, and a writing standard into one weekly deck. Or you might focus your selections on just reading and writing, or a single standard that needs more attention. The combination reflects your instructional priorities and your students’ needs.
Your Selections, Supported by the Triplet System
Each TEKS-specific Triplet provides three coordinated resources:
- Class slide decks with the standard, purpose statement, essential question, assignments, and teaching tools that guide students through the five thinking levels.
- Teacher scripted lesson plans with a corresponding page for every slide, including what to say, what to do, and guidance for responding to student questions and misconceptions.
- Two-sided student tracking sheets for recording whole-group learning, completing independent practice, and responding to an assessment-style question.
These connected resources help you plan with clarity and teach with confidence, with instructional support and student practice already prepared for the standards you select.
A Flexible Resource for the Next Best Step
Use Teach by TEKS to introduce concepts, reinforce current learning, review previous standards, or prepare focused instruction for small groups and tutorials. When TBASE or OnSTAGE results identify a need for additional support, select the related TEKS resources to help students take their next best step.
Teach by TEKS helps you spend less time searching for supplemental materials and more time providing purposeful practice that connects directly to what your students are learning.
